House Rental for Full Weeks
I had a week off at work and I couldn’t find a place offering both rest and other attractive activities until I ran into Casa El Somni, a house that can also be rented by weeks. I didn’t walk out of the house for the first two days, trapped in its marvelous garden, reading, strolling, looking at the stars at night... resting.
On the third day, I asked the owner about trips I could make and interesting places I could visit in the area. They have brochures and maps for everything in the region. I opted for visiting some nearby towns and also some other ones further away. One day, I visited both the town of Barx (it’s amazing how good their food is) and Gandia. Another day, I rode my bike down to the Monastery of Santa Maria de Valldigna. I’m not in great shape, but I could cover the 6 km (3.7 mi) between El Somni and this beautiful place, founded by James II and considered the spiritual temple of Valencians.
Another day I drove further south to the province of Alicante. I visited Denia, Moraira and Altea. It is a pleasure to see how the beauty of the little towns in the Valencian Community has been preserved. That is a highly recommendable trip.
I finished off my week in this rental house by visiting a beach in Oliva that remains unspoiled, away from urban crowds, where I had some of the best tapas in the region. By the way, make sure you try ‘espencat’ (roasted red peppers and eggplant with codfish or mojama — filleted salt-cured tuna) and also that you visit the tourist apartments Casa El Somni if your goal is to spend a week in Valencia because it is worth it.
